The GPO is renowned for being the headquarters of the 1916 Easter Rising, an event that ignited a series of actions leading to the creation of the Irish Republic. The GPO Museum narrates the pivotal moments that shaped modern Irish history including the 1916 Easter Rising, the Irish War of Independence, the Anglo Irish Treaty, the Irish Civil War and the Troubles. It also covers the peace process in Northern Ireland, culminating in the signing of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998.
